Job Title: SVP, Business Development Manager

Required Physical Location: Portland, Oregon / Vancouver, Washington and surrounding areas

Reports to: President

FLSA Status: Exempt

Full Wage Range: $93,750 (base) plus loan incentive program up to $245,000 (gross)

JOB SUMMARY: This position supports the organization through achieving loan growth by identifying strategic opportunities. The goal is to drive financial growth through new loan origination and forging strong relationships with our Third Party Lenders and borrowers, utilizing the SBA 504 loan program. This position will require the management of new loan production efforts and lending officers.  

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:

1.     Develops new business by engaging with third party lenders, customers, prospects, and other referral sources through proactive networking and professional outreach.

2.      Collaborates with staff, commercial brokers, third party lenders, federal and state agencies, and other members of the community to carry out the mission and goals of the organization.

3.     Manages performance and oversees personnel functions of the lending team to develop business and assist as necessary with underwriting of 504 loans. 

4.     Drive accountability to role expectations, responsibilities, and authorities, providing 1:1 feedback and necessary coaching that supports team and individual development. 

5.     Identifies business opportunities while promoting and fostering awareness of the SBA 504 loan program in all areas of operation for NWBDA.  

6.     Initiates conversations and may arrange business meetings with customers, prospects, and third-party lenders to uncover referral opportunities.  

7.     Comply with all regulations, polices, procedures, and delegated authorities to manage risk related to credit, operational, reputational, regulatory, and legal aspects of personal interactions, customer transactions, and financial exposure of NWBDA.

8.     Facilitates monthly meetings to discuss updates or changes in internal procedures, SBA Standard Operating Procedures and/or interpretation of Standard Operating Procedures.

9.     Upon request only, assist the closing department with any matters to ensure debenture funding occurs timely and in a professional manner. 

10.  Upon request only, assist the servicing department with any servicing related matters including performing any required site visits on an as needed basis.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:   

1.     Submit, monthly, a detailed breakdown of all expenses incurred for all out-of-pocket costs including mileage, stationery, approved office supplies, and other materials necessary to market and package the loan/debenture applications. 

2.     Sustain activity with Local Chamber of Commerce groups and other networking groups as needed, ensuring that the lending team is also actively involved in networking groups as needed.

3.     Prepare an annual forecast of loan approvals and projected funding dates.

4.     Make recommendations to NWBDA President for procedural changes to promote efficiencies within the company.

5.     Attempt to attend all meetings where your presence is requested by management.

6.     Assist with other requests or duties as requested by management.

7.    Comply with all Northwest Business Development Association’s policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:   

1.     Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or related field, or equivalent on-the-job training.

2.     Previous lending experience within the Portland, Oregon / Vancouver, Washington area that includes business development, sales, and/or Commercial Lending. 

3.      Knowledge of SBA Loan Programs, and Loan Regulation Compliance.

3.     Previous Management and /or Team Lead experience.

4.     Good driving record.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

1.     Strong proficiency in PC applications including Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office Suite and/or Microsoft 365.

2.     Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality.

WORKING CONDITIONS:   

1.     Ability to work from a home-based office located within the Portland, Oregon / Vancouver, Washington area. NWBDA can provide an office in the Spokane area as well.

GENERAL BENEFIT DESCRIPTION:

  • Full time employees are covered by medical, dental, vision, and life insurance.
  • Employees are immediately eligible to enroll in and contribute to the company’s 403(b) retirement plan and are eligible for a discretionary employer match (100% up to $5k Annually) the month following their sixth month anniversary.
  • Vacation accrues at the rate of 6.15 hrs/pay period for a maximum of 20 days.

Job Title: Vice President, Business Development Officer

Reports To: President

Location of Territory: Boise/Southern Idaho

Although “remote” from home office, successful candidates must reside within a reasonable commuting distance of Boise/Southern Idaho

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Starting/Hiring Wage: $43,920 – $54,900 annually

Full Wage Range: $60,000 – $150,000+ depending on experience and production (maximum includes production Bonuses and Incentives)

JOB SUMMARY: This position is responsible for marketing and production of new SBA 504 loans. Your territory will encompass Southern Idaho.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • The development of new business and underwriting of loans, requiring you to call on financial institutions, commercial brokers and businesses to offer SBA 504 participation on needed financial arrangements.
  • Request and start the underwriting of the required criteria and financial reports by completing the required 504 Loan Application and NWBDA Credit Memorandum, both of which are needed for NWBDA to finalize the underwriting of the borrower’s application for submission for SBA approval.
  • Assist the Credit Analyst in obtaining any additional information or answers to questions in order to complete the submission of the application to our Loan Committee, Board of Directors (if needed), and SBA.
  • At or prior to approval, obtain from Borrower a signed and dated Loan Application Assistance Agreement including the required fee deposit.
  • Upon notification from SBA that the loan has been approved, provide Borrower and Lender with a copy of the Authorization for Debenture Guaranty.
  • Assist our closing department when and as needed in collecting documentation necessary to close and fund the debenture transaction. This includes but is not limited to obtaining and certifying, as needed, that the required appraisals and environmental investigations comply with the Authorization for Debenture Guaranty.
  • Attend occasional meetings requested by the closing department in an effort to keep them up to date on the closing process for each of your approved loans.
  • At or prior to closing, perform a site visit at the project site and obtain all financial information as necessary for a certification to SBA that the project was completed as planned and that there has been no adverse change.
  • Upon request only, assist servicing department with any servicing related matters including performing any required site visits on an as needed basis.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Submit, on a monthly basis, a detailed breakdown of all expenses incurred for all out-of-pocket costs including mileage, stationery, approved office supplies, and other materials necessary to market and package the loan/debenture applications.
  • Be active in all local Chamber of Commerce groups and other networking groups as needed.
  • Personally call on commercial lenders within your designated area at least quarterly.
  • Provide management with a monthly pipeline/tracking report listing prospects, applications in progress and approved transactions in process of funding. Provide a weekly report if requested.
  • Prepare, during September of each year, an annual forecast of loan approvals and projected funding dates.
  • Make recommendations to NWBDA President for procedural changes to promote efficiencies within the company.
  • Attempt to attend all meetings where your presence is requested by management.
  • Assist with other requests or duties as requested by management.
  • Comply with all Northwest Business Development Association’s policies and procedures.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR CONSIDERATION:

  • Bachelor Degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, Economics or related field, or equivalent on-the-job training.
  • Previous lending experience in areas of Marketing of Commercial Loans and/or SBA Loan Programs, and Loan Regulation Compliance.
  • Good driving record.
