*Job Title: *Commercial Credit Analyst
*Reports To: *Chief Credit Officer

  • Full-time Status: *Non-Exempt
  • Starting/Hiring Wage: *$40,000 – $57,500 annually
  • Full Wage Range: *$40,000 – $75,000 annually – Midpoint and above is reserved for employees who have longevity with Northwest Business Development Association and consistently exhibit outstanding performance over a period of time in the role.

*JOB SUMMARY:* This position is primarily responsible for processing new SBA 504 loan applications, which includes financial analysis, screening for SBA eligibility, and ensuring proper completion of key functions submitted to SBA. The Credit Analyst collaborates as part of a team in gathering, analyzing and recording documentation used for evaluating credit qualifications on current and prospective customers by preparing written reports of analysis which include in-depth analysis of financial statements, historical and projection-based cash flow and ratio analysis, suggested credit structure, general industry analysis and identified risks.

*ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:* The essential functions of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Works with clients, Business Development Officers and management to analyze loan needs and options available to meet client financial goals.
  • Analyzes credit worthiness of commercial applicants, and guarantors, as appropriate by reviewing loan application, spreading historical and projection based financial statements, calculating cash flows, identifying key risks and conducting research on borrowers and industries.
  • Possesses proficiency relative to credit transactions and analytical skills sufficient to enable independent underwriting of commercial requests for streamlined to moderate complexity requests with moderate guidance from manager.
  • Uses critical thinking to effectively discern information and formulate an appropriate action plan to mitigating credit and industry risks.
  • Analyzes findings and authors a comprehensive report of analysis using a mix of data entry & analysis and written narrative.
  • Assists with annual loan risk ratings by evaluating credit quality through spreading and review of financials and suggesting loans to upgraded or downgraded based on this analysis.
  • Ensures compliance to applicable regulations and keeps up to date with changes in federal regulations and internal credit policy requirements.

 

*ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:*

  • Maintain an organized loan file, communicate needs lists effectively to Business Development Officer (BDO), and be responsible for ensuring all pending items are collected and filed appropriately.
  • Understand key eligibility and analysis components relating to SBA 504 lending by utilizing SBA’s Standard Operating Procedures and NWBDA’s Credit Policies and Procedures / Operations Manual when making decisions.
  • Input loan data into the software utilized by the company for submission to SBA. * Assist all departments with various tasks relating to each stage of the loan process.
  • Respond timely to emails; accurately prepare, review, and upload internal and external forms; scan and save file documentation.
  • Assist with other requests or duties as requested by management.

  • Must be self-motivated and possess the ability to identify and resolve credit and compliance risks, seeking assistance from department staff and management when needed.

*QUALIFICATIONS:*

*MINIMUM EDUCATION &/or EXPERIENCE*

Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or related field from a four-year college or university; or four years of banking and/or finance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Commercial or SBA lending and/or servicing experience preferred.

*OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES*

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Experience with financial spread software and SBA 504 Software Ventures+ is desirable.
Ability to acclimate quickly to other programs.

*LANGUAGE SKILLS*

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
Ability to create comprehensive reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present complex information succinctly and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

*MATHMATICAL SKILLS*

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Ability to create, interpret and explain spreadsheet analysis.

*REASONING ABILITY*

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
Ability to deal with complex problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

*PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:* This position is sedentary and requires the following physical activities:

  • Sitting for long periods of time; occasional bending, squatting, kneeling, stooping; good finger dexterity and feeling; frequent repetitive motions; talking, hearing and visual acuity.
  • Frequent lifting (up to 25 pounds of paper supplies or minor office equipment).

*GENERAL BENEFIT DESCRIPTION:*

Full time employees are covered by medical, dental, vision and life insurance.
Employees are immediately eligible to enroll in and contribute to the company’s 403(b) retirement plan and are eligible for a discretionary employer match the month following their six month anniversary.
Full time employees will also accrue vacation at the rate of 1.54 hrs/pay period for a maximum of 5 days in the first year of employment.
Full time employees receive 12 paid holidays throughout the calendar year.
Upon successful performance of both the employee and the company there is *potential* for an annual bonus.
**This position is not eligible for per-file bonus/commissions.
